Postmining Alternative Land Use Evaluation Methodology

The report summarizes the results of work performed by Harbridge House, Inc., pursuant to Purchase Order No. P5190176. It includes study observations, additional needs to be met, and ways to meet those needs. In performing the study, Harbridge House focused on the following three tasks, as identified by the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement: A literature search and preliminary survey of several states to determine the extent of available information on reclamation projects, the development of a list of successful and unsuccessful land reclamation projects that involved a change in postmining land use, and recommendations on criteria and methodologies for evaluating alternative land uses in planned reclamation projects.
