摘要

This report is a literature search and summary of relevant data for the individual fate processes (hydrolysis, biodegradation, photolysis, etc.) which might be expected to occur if a pollutant were introduced into an aquatic system. The report is organized into 101 individual chapters for pollutants or small groups of pollutants, and four introductory chapters. Each chapter has its own references so the chapters can be used independently. The approach taken by this report is to summarize data on the individual processes which might be important in describing the transport and fate of pollutants introduced at low concentrations (e.g., ppm or less) into aquatic environments. If transport processes will result in significant pollutant transfer to another medium (e.g., air, sediments), data are included where available to describe what happens to the pollutant in the medium to which the pollutant was transferred. A list of the literature covered in the search is included. Results of the literature search are that a significant amount of information on most pollutants was found, but that the information was more useful in making qualitative judgements about the pollutant transport and fate than for making quantitative predictions of concentrations in the environment. Availability of rate constants useful in mathematical fate models was limited.
