The method of relative spectral detector response measurement based on filters of known transmittance and a spectral irradiance standard lamp was used to measure the responsivity of a thermopile. The thermopile was then used in conjunction with a monochromator based spectral comparator to measure the relative spectral response from 350to 1200nm of several other detectors. Several auxiliary experiments to evaluate the accuracy of these techniques are described. The estimated accuracy of relative spectral response measurements using these techniques and this particular instrumentation was found to range from 3to 7% depending upon the type of detector being measured and the spectral region under study. Finally,the effective transmittance of several filters was measured to evaluate the accuracy of the relative spectral detector response measurements. It was concluded that the effective transmittance test is not a reliable way to judge the accuracy of detector response measurements.
