The MK-8/PAC-6system has undergone extensive in vitro development with 11.6% efficiency demonstrated with a 28.8watt input. A system efficiency of 13% is expected with further actuator seal development. The MK-8engine has demonstrated a 17.9% efficiency with 25watts input and a 17.1% efficiency with 20watts input. Recent in vivo activities at the University of California at Davis have included two implants of the MK-7/PAC-6/PVAD system with durations of four days and six days. The system tests have confirmed synchronization and full ventricle relief over a wide range of conditions including beat rates up to 140 BPM. The 125,000hours of accumulated engine endurance testing includes over 20,000hours without a failure on one engine. The twenty thousand hours of system testing included a 5400hour test with failure.
