The report contains survey results of annual consumer expenditures, sources of income, and selected family characteristics for the following metropolitan areas: Baltimore, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, and Washington, DC. The data are derived from an integration of the diary and interview components of the 1972-73 Consumer Expenditure Survey. The seven family characteristics used to classify families are: Family size; Age of head of household; Education of head of household; Race of head of household; Family income; Family composition; and Housing tenure. Generalized standard error tables for income and expenditure tables by major classification are also included.
