摘要

Mill Creek and Cedar Creek in Johnson County, Kansas, were sampled monthly from December 1977 through May 1979 to determine water quality data for the streams. Also studied were toxicity levels for selected stream fauna and fauna response to artificially stressed stream conditions. From the data, water quality criteria for ammonia and total residual chlorine (TRC) were developed. At each sampling site three samples were taken; one acid fixed for ammonia analysis, one for bacteriological testing, and one for other parameters such as pH, hardness, alkalinity, conductivity, and turbidity. Other on-site measurements were also made such as temperature and dissolved oxygen. Species used for the 96 hour acute toxicity test for ammonia and TRC include the orange throated darter, the red shiner, crayfish, and the riffle beetle.
