摘要

The Tennessee Valley Authority developed a method of differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry for determining total concentrations of cadmium and lead in water samples from ash ponds at steam-electric generating plants. After digestion of the sample and addition of reagents to overcome interferences by iron (III) and selenium (IV),the peak current for cadmium and lead is measured and quantified by standard addition. The effective range for this method is 0.3to 100microgram/l of cadmium and 3to 100microgram/l of lead. This method gives suitable accuracy for cadmium and lead in reference water samples and in split samples of effluent water from ash ponds that were analyzed by atomic absorption. Limited data show that this method probably also can be used for 5to 100microgram/l copper but that it is unsuitable for zinc because of a 15-microgram/l sample blank.
