X-Ray Diffraction Analysis of Selected Paint Pigments

An investigation into the use of X-ray diffraction to monitor pigment and filler contents of white and yellow traffic paints was made using dried films and extracted pigments. Correlations for titanium dioxide and lead chromate were acceptable. Correlations for talc and calcium carbonate ranged from poor to fair. Some insight into improving these correlations is discussed.
