Black/White Wage and Employment Changes: A Look at Production Workers in South Carolina, 1940-1971

The dynamic convergence of black/white wage differentials during the 1960s elicited a number of important analyses that advanced demand oriented explanations for the relative improvement in black wages. The dissertation analyzes the secular movement of the wages (and employment) of black and white production workers in South Carolina in order to ascertain the role that these demand, as well as supply, forces played in elevating relative black wages.
