Marital Counseling for Rape Victims

Marital counseling was offered to rape victims and their spouses in an attempt to identify the specific types of marital conflict that develop between couples when the woman has been raped. The effectiveness of marital counseling in alleviating rape-related marital maladjustments was also evaluated. A total of 43 couples, 18 therapy and 25 non-therapy, comprised the final sample. The study provides information on the long-term reactions of the male partners of rape victims.
