Chloroacetaldehyde (Analytical Method S11)

The NIOSH analytical method S11 for determining chloroacetaldehyde (107200) in air is described. Samples are collected on Silica gel, desorbed with methanol and analyzed by gas chromatography with electron capture detectors. The working range on the method is 1.8 to 6.4 milligrams per cubic meter, the coefficient of variance is 0.06 and the limit of detection of 100 nanograms. Analytical equipment, reagents and procedures are described, and mathematical formulas for calibration and standardization are included.
