The Trophic Status of Irish Lakes. Lough Key: A Report on Investigations of Lough Key and Its Feeder Streams Carried Out Between September 1975 and January 1977

In 1976, a series of approximately monthly measurements were carried out at five stations on Lough Key and at one near lake location on each of thirteen feeder streams. Extra sampling points were worked at times on the River Boyle, the major inflow to the lake, and in addition, the lake outflow was sampled regularly. Parameters measured included total phosphorus, orthophosphate, nitrate-nitrite, ammonia, silica, chlorophyll 'a', dissolved oxygen and transparency. Examination of the planktonic populations in the lake was also undertaken.
