Technology Transfer in Tacoma, Washington: The Case of the Automatic Hydrant Valve

The report describes the technology transfer process in Tacoma, Washington, with special attention to the case of the automatic hydrant valve adopted and disseminated by the Tacoma Fire Department. Presented are the theories of technology transfer used in planning Tacoma's process: the supply, demand, and linker group of theories. The events of Tacoma's transfer center and of the hydrant valve project are explained. Those events in light of the theories used in planning them are analyzed.
