The report presents the results of three years of operation of a full-scale sanitary landfill leachate treatment plant. Defines the five modes of operation investigated: chemical/physical treatment followed by activated sludge; chemical/physical treatment only; biological treatment followed by chemical/physical; biological treatment only; and bench-scale studies, including activated carbon adsorption treatment. Provides an overview of leachate treatment options. Describes the leachate treatment system, including a design overview, chemical/physical section, and biological treatment section.
