The workshop, held June 7-8, 1978, at Dulles International Airport in Virginia, was the second of two workshops intended to acquaint leaders in Emergency Medical Services systems with research methods which can be used to improve system design, operation, and evaluation. The first workshop, held in Bethesda, Maryland, April 20-21, 1978, provided broad orientation to principles and examples of evaluation research and research design. The second focuses upon methods of performance measurement, including that of emergency medical technicians, dispatchers, and emergency department personnel.
