Risks Associated with Nuclear Power: A Critical Review of the Literature; Summary and Synthesis Chapter

摘要

This report is a critical review of the literature pertaining to the risks associated with nuclear-electric-power programs. The report summarizes the present state of knowledge about five different aspects of risks associated with a nuclear-power program. These risks include human radiation exposure resulting routinely from production of nuclear electric power; large unplanned releases of radioactivity; effects of long-lived radionuclides on future generations; non-radiological risks; nuclear proliferation, terrorism, and sabotage.
