The Transfer of Technology to Water Supply, Sanitation, and Waste Disposal Systems in Developing Countries

More than half the world's people have no reliable and safe water supply, while 70-80% have no sewage disposal. To help decisionmakers develop feasible options to improve these dreadful conditions, which are responsible for 80% of all illnesses in the Third World and are the major cause of infant mortality, this paper, one of a series of state-of-the-art reports, reviews the possibilities for improving developing country water supply, sanitation, and waste disposal (WS/S/WD) systems through the transfer of technology.
