Program to Follow Up Federal Paperwork Commission Recommendations is in Trouble

An Office of Management and Budget program to follow up Federal Paperwork Commission recommendations needs to be redesigned and given stronger leadership. Periodic program reports to the President and the Congress do not show actions taken on the recommendations or reasons for rejections, and overstate progress. GAO recommends that the Congress extend the program and require many recommendations excluded from followup to be addressed.
