Interest among U.S. exporters in selling agricultural products to Japan has grown significantly in recent years. In 1978, Japan-the largest single-country market for U.S. agricultural products-imported nearly $4.4 billion, compared with $1.2 billion in 1970. U.S. exports of fresh and processed fruits and vegetables to Japan alone amounted to nearly $327 million in 1978.
