A Review of the Department of Transportation Research and Special Programs Administration's Hazardous Materials Research and Development Program

A review by the National Research Council, Assembly of Engineering, Committee on Transportation (COT), of the Department of Transportation Research and Special Programs Administration's (RSPA) hazardous materials research and development (R&D) program is presented. RSPA's program is a small but important part of the DOT's overall research and development responsibilities for transport of hazardous materials. To accomplish the review task, the National Research Council appointed a panel, including members of the committee, chosen to represent a broad range of experience and views in this field. The review committee made 9 recommendations.
