This report describes a study of the behavior of punched metal plate connectored joints of softwood members under a medium term loading. Initially preliminary tests on joints were carried out to investigate the moment-rotation relationship, using dial gauges to record deflexions. The use of dial gauges presented some difficulty with regard to the noting of the reading at various load levels. In addition with increasing loads it became more difficult to take a notable reading due to the increasing time taken for the dials to settle. Hence this behavior possibly indicates that punched metal plate connectored timber joints creep under constant load.
