Program Evaluations: The Lasting Impacts of Job Corps Participation

The report is a comprehensive evaluation of the Job Corps program. Based on a large sample of participants and members of a comparison group, the study evaluates the economic impacts of the program over time. It assesses the program's impact on the participants' employment and educational status and other experiences. A detailed cost/benefit analysis is also provided. Some of the benefits that emerged include the work output of Corps members, reduced dependency on transfer programs, reduced criminal activity, and reduced drug use. The net present values of various components of the program are given for comparative purposes.
