摘要

The potential for a catastrophic hurricane disaster in Southeast Louisiana is well recognized. It is because of this threat that a local storm surge forecast model, referred to as SLOSH (Sea, Lake and Overland Surges from Hurricanes), was developed. The substance of SLOSH is a set of mathematical equations which represents those laws of physics that describe the motion of water over a surface, in this case the complex topography of extreme Southeast Louisiana and a small portion of South Mississippi. In order to aid users of the SLOSH Model, this paper was prepared to provide a set of instructions in the proper use of the model output.
