Waterflood-Induced Hydraulic Fracturing

摘要

The objectives of the study were to determine the feasibility of waterflood-induced fracturing for improvement of the waterflooding process and to formulate practical guidelines for the design, evaluation and operation of waterfloods where fractures are induced in injection wells. To achieve these objectives, the following problems were addressed: the effect of hydraulic fractures on oil recovery; the mechanism of waterflood-induced fracturing; and the monitoring of fracture growth.
