An Analysis of the Status and Adequacy of the Workers' Compensation System for Compensating Victims of Occupational Disease

The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of the Workers' Compensation system in providing compensation to workers disabled by respiratory disease. A quantitative portrayal of the experience of 784 respiratory disease claims with the Workers' Compensation system in four states - New Jersey, California, New York, and Michigan - is presented.
