Utilizing the Magnetic Fraction of Raw Refuse with Shredded Automobile Scrap in Cupola Gray Iron

In this investigation, cupola trials were made using combinations of refuse scrap with shredded automobile scrap under basic and acid slag practices. Furnace operating information and the behavior of alloying and tramp elements was obtained. The research showed that it is possible to utilize up to 60 percent refuse scrap in the cupola under basic practice and 30 percent under acid practice.
