Stormwater Management in the United States. A Study of Institutional Problems, Solutions and Impacts

Personal interviews were conducted in many urban and metropolitan areas of the United States to investigate institutional problems in stormwater management. Successful solutions and the impacts and transferability of solutions were studied in detail. The objective was to prepare a report useful to local public officials and management personnel in developing and operating effective, economical and timely programs and facilities for managing stormwater. Extensive case studies were made of: Cook County, Illinois; Metropolitan Denver, Colorado; Fairfax County, Virginia; and the City and County of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The studies addressed the broad field of stormwater management, including both 'control' and 'developmental' activities.
