The previous version of MOVES, MOVES 2010a, estimated emissions for only a limited number of air toxics from highway vehicles, including benzene, 1,3-butadiene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, acrolein, naphthalene, and ethanol.1 Furthermore, estimation of air toxic emissions was done largely by relying on algorithms carried over from MOBILE6.22 and the National Mobile Inventory Model (NMIM).3 Exceptions included addition of toxic to hydrocarbon ratios for ethanol.
