摘要

The committee was established by the Director of the Office of Administration of the Executive Office of the President (EOP) for the purpose of outlining a 10-year plan for the EOP Information Network. The committee's work was carried out in the context of earlier recommendations by the Advisory Group on White House Information Systems, and the EOP decision to purchase two major computer systems -- for office automation and data processing applications, respectively. The EOP Information Network is defined as consisting of all non-mission oriented information processing and data communication services along with supporting software and hardware systems that are centrally administered and common to the EOP user community. This network is moreover viewed as a center of stability or city plan, which permits the orderly evolution of EOP information systems along any one of several diverse alternatives, as dictated by technology, user needs, and the increasing trends toward resource decentralization.
