Efficacy of Inactivated Influenza Vaccine in Children

Beginning in May, 1978, eight groups of children received either two doses of placebo or two doses of A/USSR/77 subvirion influenza vaccine and 1 or 2 doses of A/Texas/77 and B/Hong Kong/72 vaccine of varying potency. Beginning in May, 1979, 79 of the original 203 (39%) were enrolled in a 1-year study to determine rates of antibody decay and incidence of influenza. A comparison group of 78 children was also recruited and followed in the same manner.
