Feasibility of Utilization of Waterborne Platforms for the Processing for Ultimate Disposal and/or Reuse of Municipal Sewage Sludge

A preliminary assessment is made of the technical and economic feasibility of carrying out from waterborne platforms the various available treatment unit operations for the disposal and/or reuse of municipal sewage sludge. The use of waterborne platforms for sludge treatment has several advantages: it frees the limited land areas near wastewater treatment plants for other uses; it affords the possibility for carrying out the processing operation enroute to an ultimate disposal site, and; it holds the potential for minimizing environmental impact.
