Biology and Economics of the Fishery for Jack Mackerel in the Northeastern Pacific

The Fishery Management Plan for jack mackerel Trachurus symmetricus determines the optimum yield within the U.S. Fishery Conservation Zone and provides suggested management measures to achieve Fishery Conservation and Management Act objectives and National Standards for Fishery Management Plans. Values for such important parameters such as abundance, rate of natural mortality, and maximum sustainable yield can only be approximated. Therefore, the present plan is intended to provide a management regime whereby the resource may be explored and developed.
