Abundance of the Bottlenose Dolphin, 'Tursiops truncatus', on the West Coast of Florida

Aerial surveys were conducted to assess the distribution and estimate the density of bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) along the Gulf coast of Florida. Nine flights totalling 168 air-hours and covering 15,000 linear km were made between June 1975 and May 1976. Twenty-one stranded cetaceans, including the genera Tursiops, Kogia, Mesoplodon, Feresa and Globicephala were salvaged.
