The workshop on ocean wave hindcasting and forecasting modeling, held in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on June 3-5, 1980, was called to provide advice on planning modeling-related efforts and activities of the new national Coastal Waves Program. Invitations to participate in the workshop were extended to only a limited number of experts who were active in modeling research and development in one of the four areas: basic theory, winds, deepwater waves, and shallow water waves.
