摘要

The report presents findings on the money value, quantity, and nutritive value of food used at home and on expenditures for food away from home for 1,153 housekeeping households surveyed in Hawaii in the winter of 1978. Also included are data on the percentage of meals eaten at home, their average cost, and their nturient return per dollar's worth of food. The nutrient content of food used at home was derived from information collected on the kinds and quantities of food used by the households during the 7 days and from U.S. Department of Agriculture food composition tables. The nutrient levels of food used for each household are expressed as percentages of the 1974 Recommended Dietary Allowances set by the Food and Nutrition Board of the National Research Council, National Academy of Sciences. Findings are given for households classified by income, household size, and race of respondent.
