Cost Containment in Long Term Care: Options and Issues in State Program Design. A Synthesis of Findings from Research and Demonstration Projects

This synthesis of cost containment issues and options in long term care was prepared for use by policy makers at the state level to assist in establishing policies to contain long term care costs while providing for unmet needs of the elderly population (over 65). The report reviews available research on long term care, examines the impact of alternative arrangements, and assesses the possible impact of fiscal and personal consequences if specific alternatives are pursued.
