Factors involved in shaping school success and educational attainment, including failure and dropping out, and occupational attainment were studied. The shaping of delinquent and adult criminal careers, and specifically the role of school dropout, in both delinquent and criminal behavior were also studied. The general trend was confirmed that delinquency and deviance are shaped by structural experiences in school and work domains. An unanticipated finding was that most adult criminal offenders did not have delinquency records.
