Recreation in the Perceived Community Function Perspective

This survey shows that the individuals judgments of the value of outdoor recreation facilities are multidimensional. The dimensions evaluated were (1) individualistic vs. community wide, (2) the change vs. stability continuum, and (3) the primary vs. secondary function. The data suggested that people used these three dimensions or yardsticks in judging the value of outdoor recreation. The overall value that people saw in outdoor recreational facilities was determined by how well outdoor recreation facilities simultaneously 'measured up' against all three of these yardsticks.
