National Medical Care Expenditures Study (NMCES) Estimation and Sampling Variances in the Household Survey: Instruments and Procedures 2

This publication describes the sampling design and various statistical issues related to the analysis of data from the household component of the National Medical Care Expenditure Survey. Two national probability samples were used. The sampling design is best characterized as two independent replicates of similar four-stage samples of the civilian noninstitutionalized population, with multivariate stratification in the first two stages.
