Linear Expansion Design Theory for COM-PLY (Trademark) Panels: COM-PLY (Trademark) Report 21

摘要

A theory was developed for predicting linear expansion of COM-PLY panels with increasing panel moisture content. Equations are presented to predict panel expansion when the component materials behave elastically at low moisture contents and inelastically at high moisture contents. The strength and stiffness of a variety of veneer and particleboard components were measured to develop linear expansion equations. The results show it is possible to make COM-PLY panels with linear expansions that range from acceptable to totally unacceptable for residential construction.
