Study to Improve the Efficiency of Post-Knitting Operations in Knitted Outerwear Mills

The purpose of this research project was to conduct a comprehensive study of equipment and methods being used in applicable branches of the apparel manufacturing industry that can be applied to post knitting operations of knitwear manufacturers to reduce costs and labor intensity. The findings of this report indicate that reductions in cost and labor intensity are available. Some of the companies that were visited have incorporated new equipment and were able to provide production savings in terms of the number of units produced or the number of employees transferred to other jobs.
