Federal Examinations of Financial Institutions: Issues That Need to Be Resolved

The report identifies key issues which the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council must address if it is to be successful in developing uniform examination principles and standards. The report describes certain examination philosophies and practices followed by five Federal regulatory agencies in examining financial institutions. It discusses how these philosophies and practices differ and what the effect is on the supervision of each institution.
