Use of Vacant School Could Provide Savings to Federal Construction Programs

Declining enrollments in public schools have left many schools vacant.nBecause of the substantial cost savings that might be available through the use of vacant schools. GAO recommends that Federal agencies which provide grants for construction projects make sure that adequate consideration is given to the uses of vacant schools before funds for new facilities are suthorized.
