Rehabilitative Engineering Research and Development Program Evaluation

摘要

This study evaluates the impacts and effectiveness of the VA Rehabilitative Engineering Research and Development (RER&D) Program. Projects of the program address a wide range of rehabilitation areas, including better care of blind and low-vision patients; improving the motor and sensory results of stroke; understanding the energy consumption of the disabled; motor problems of the spinal-cord-injured; problems of degenerative joint diseases; and functional electrical stimulation of muscles and nerves. The study found that the majority of the program's goals and objectives are being met.
