Archaeological Monitoring, Park Maintenance Repair: Lateral-Sag-Failure Section Along the Northern Portion of the First Terrace 'Harper' Gardens' Wall, Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia

摘要

This report deals with the maintenance and repair of a section along the northern portion of the first terrace, 'Harper' gardens' wall, where by the summer of 1981, Lateral sagging along this wall had reached a pronounced state. The extent of this bulging indicated that a significant loss of structural integrity had occurred. In order to repair this damage and preclude any further damage to adjacent wall section, a decision was reached to rebuild the sagging section of wall. In association with this work, archeological monitoring was requested in order to restall any adverse actions upon archeological resources. Figures are given to show the location of the wall in relation to other nearby structures.
