Changing the Observational Coding Styles of Insular and Non-Insular Mothers: A Step Toward Maintenance of Parent Training Effects

Observational coding styles and parent training effects were studied. Maintenance of therapeutic outcome with multiply coerced mothers continues to be an elusive phenomenon, as they appear to utilize observational coding strategies that foster continuation of the entrapment. Results indicate that mothers who experience high levels of both social and personal coercion tent to fare poorly in parent training programs designed to improve coercive relationships between them and their children.
