Supported Work in Transition: Early Post-Demonstration Operating Experience

Between 1975 and 1978 the effectiveness of a highly structured employment program called supported work was tested at 15 locations across the country. The program was designed to improve the long-term employability of persons whose poor work habits and personal characteristics made successful entry into regular market unlikely. The purpose of the sections which follow is to highlight the major developments which affected the program during 1979. Especially important were the addition of new sites and the modification of certain program elements related to both funding arrangements and target group specifications as the sites moved beyond the experimental stage of the demonstration.
