摘要

A study of the life history and habitat utilization of cutthroat trout in Bear Creek, Washington, provided baseline information for a timber removal study. Trout life history information included upstream adult spawning migration, spawning, incubation and emergence, population dynamics, and movement. Trout habitat utilization study included quantifying the Bear Creek habitat, calculating probability-of-use curves by trout life stage for certain habitat parameters, and combining the two in a habitat utilization model that calculated quality of habitat indexes. The indexes were correlated with biological measurements taken in the same sections. Significant positive correlations were found between the mean length and weight of adult trout and the quality of the indexes.
