A Wind Tunnel for Simulation Studies of the Atmospheric Boundary Layer

The overall design of a low speed, blower type, open circuit wind tunnel to be constructed for simulation studies of the atmospheric boundary layer is described. This tunnel, to be located in the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Poona, features a test section of length 30 ft. and cross-sectional area 3 ft. by 3 ft. Two test sections each of this dimension, one with a tunnel floor heating arrangement, specially designed, for simulating stratified flows and the other for general purpose, area to be constructed. The test sections are wheeled for easy replacement.
