Relationships between Rainfall and Meteorological Surface Variables: Applications to Midwestern Operational Weather Modification. Volume I

This report summarizes the research on meteorological variables done as part of the Operational Seeding Evaluation Techniques (OSET) project. The first section describes the approaches used in studying the covariate problem, including the advantages and disadvantages of using spatial analyses. The second section describes the data, the analysis technique, and the covariates selected for this study. The third section presents results for the rainfall-covariate relationship through correlation coefficient pattern analyses and stepwise regressions with no stratifications, and the fourth section presents results for the rainfall-covariate relationships with stratifications and/or physical constraints.
